Realizing Our Power to Create the Lives and World We Really Want ―A Conversation with Frances Moore Lappé―
“Living democracy” advocate and world food expert; author of Diet for a Small Planet, Hope’s Edge, Getting a Grip, and 15 other books; and much-loved speaker
Sunday, April 11, 5-7 p.m. Yoga Mendocino
―a benefit for Yoga Mendocino―
In her new book, GETTING A GRIP-2, Lappé describes Mendocino County’s successful “NO on A” campaign as an example of efforts to create “local living economies.” Barbara Kingsolver says of Getting a Grip, “This is not an ordinary book; it’s more like a new pair of glasses, allowing you to see everything around you with greater clarity. Suddenly the world is more comprehensible, more manageable, even more beautiful. You won’t want to take them off.” The author will be available after this event to sign her books.
Suggested donation: $15-30 (more if you can, less if you can’t)
Space is limited! Preregistration recommended.
Register here with credit card or Paypal or call 462-2580
Doors open at 4:30, April 11th for on-site registration.
Freestyle community dance comes to Yoga Mendocino on the second Friday of every month.
7:30pm until 9:00pm
Come stretch your body and soul with some funky rhythms and playful interaction with friends. Local djBasin will bump out some world beat, motown, contemporary dance tunes to move the body and touch the heart. The dance is structured in the shape of a wave form, starting very slowly and quietly and gradually building in tempo and heat through a variety of musical textures to a raucous, rowdy climax, followed by a long, winding down, settling like a hot air balloon, bouyantly relaxing back into a released, meditative closing. Be sure to arrive on time to enjoy the entire ride.
