We believe that YoMo – the people, the programs, and the place – makes a unique and important contribution to our community.
Our 2011 Highlights:
- More students than ever benefited from scholarships in 2011.
- More therapeutic programs for students dealing with chronic pain and illness, limited mobility, stress, and balance challenges.
- Special classes for pre and post natal moms and babies.
- Variety of ongoing yoga classes with trained instructors; partnership with the City of Ukiah for publicity and registration.
- Weekly meditation gatherings with guest monastic and lay teachers.
- New introductory courses in meditation and in iRest Yoga Nidra.
- Workshops with visiting speakers including Dorothy Hunt, Nancy Jewel Poer, Judith Redwing Keyssar RN, Arinna Weissman, Jeannie Zandi, and Richard Miller, PhD―each bringing valuable tools to help us cope with the stresses of modern life.
- Delightful and inspiring music, chanting, and dance events.
- Participation in community partnership to bring NPR’s StoryCorps to our county.
- Sliding-scale admission fees for many events.
- $8,000 raised through the Spring Yogathon (co-sponsored with UVMC Palliative Care) to support YoMo’s therapeutic programs for those dealing with medical conditions.
- Sustaining Membership increased to 68 members
