An Invitation to Become a Sustaining Member of Yoga Mendocino

October 29, 2010

Dear friend,

One of the benefits of last year’s financial crisis was discovering how many people view Yoga Mendocino as a precious local asset and want it to thrive. These friends include not just yoga students, members of the meditation community, and participants in special programs, but also others who believe that YoMo―the people, the programs, the place―makes an essential contribution to our community’s wellbeing.
Whatever your connection to Yoga Mendocino, we like to think that you count yourself as such a friend.

YoMo's many friends

We have created a Sustaining Member  program to connect the Yoga Mendocino community and build a core of steady support. The base cost of membership, $60 a year, is modest―less than the proverbial 2 lattés a month―because we want our network to be as wide as possible. (Of course, we welcome larger donations, as well!)

A new membership program

Yoga Mendocino’s mission is to promote physical and spiritual well-being in our community through the knowledge and practice of yoga and related approaches. This mission is carried out through a wide and growing range of programs and offerings. Besides regular and special yoga classes, with some places available by scholarship, there are weekly meditation gatherings and guest speakers, music,  therapeutic yoga and community wellness programs―all in YoMo’s uniquely beautiful and peaceful garden studio on Mason Street.
Missions and programs

Times are still tough for individuals, families, and organizations, as everyone knows. Happily, Yoga Mendocino is on a more solid footing than it was just a year ago; but it is still vulnerable. The Board is working hard to strengthen this valued non-profit organization further and to lay a foundation for its long-term sustainability. Realistically, YoMo will probably always depend on donations to help cover its monthly expenses because of the breadth of its offerings and the Board’s commitment to affordable programs. The new Membership program is part of our effort to achieve stability
Sustaining Yoga Mendocino

We hope you will consider becoming a Sustaining Member of Yoga Mendocino. Besides having the satisfaction of being part of YoMo’s supporting community and the opportunity to provide input and ideas to the Board, members will receive public recognition (if desired) and discounts on merchandise purchases. They also will be invited in the Spring to a special, members-only yoga workshop and celebratory party in YoMo’s lovely studio and patio.
To become a Sustaining Member, please click the website link and follow the instructions, or print and mail or deliver the attached response form. (See the information on the options for your tax-deductible payment, and a special early-bird offer, on the reverse side of this letter.) We thank you in advance for your consideration.

Please join us!

Namaste,

Susan Baird, President, and Maggie Norton, Program Director,
for the Yoga Mendocino Board of Directors ― Susan Baird , Annie Callaway, Kirk Fuller, Cathy Monroe, Maggie Norton, Carol Stevens, and Phyllis Webb

Donation payment options and methods

and remember: all donations to Yoga Mendocino are tax deductible
Making automatic monthly donation payments through your bank or credit union:
Most banks and credit unions make it possible to arrange for automatic monthly payments from a personal account, using a secure online bill-pay service. (This is the most convenient option for YoMo, and possibly for you, too.) To do this, log on to your bank/credit union’s online banking page and go to the bill-pay mechanism. Set Yoga Mendocino as the payee, and indicate the amount and timing of your payment and the YoMo address (above). Please write membership donation on the memo line.

Making donation payments with your own checks or cash:
We are happy to receive your membership payments by cash or check if you prefer to pay directly this way. Please send or drop off your monthly or annual payments with your form to the YoMo address (above). Please write membership donation on the memo line of your checks. (NOTE: We are happy to send you a monthly email reminder; just check the appropriate spot on the response form and be sure to give us your email address.)

Making donation payments with your credit card, online or in person:
Yoga Mendocino can accept credit card payments at our office, over the phone, or online through Paypal. Paypal is a secure and convenient way for YoMo to receive your credit card payments online. Please note that you do not need to have a Paypal account to use it. To make online payments, go to our payments page and click on the 'Join YoMo' button. You can also use your credit card in person at the YoMo office or over the phone (707- 462-2580). Because YoMo must pay surcharges for credit card payments, please use this option only for an annual membership donation or if your monthly donation amount is $20 or more.
