Interested in deepening your practice?
Taking your practice to the level of teaching?
Exploring your teaching on a deeper level?

At Yomo, we are evolving a very comprehensive teachers program with many different options.

We have some of the best teachers in the country participating in our courses and we pride ourselves on having not only high standards of education and experienced and respected instructors, but also community based programs that speak to a participants need to see their practice as part of the bigger whole. Our teachers intentions are to lead you into your own understanding of Yoga with as much support, depth and enjoyment as possible.

Our programs have evolved in accordance with the national Yoga Alliance certification standards and we feel that they go way beyond those standards.

Yoga Mendocino is a non-profit organization and has a strong foundation in the local and Californian communities. Our programs are concerned not only with maintaining a healthy dialogue with the medical community but also bringing the health communities together and helping our teachers understand the importance of the medical motto: "First, do no harm!". We bring anatomy on an experiential and energetic level right into the practice of asana and emphasize the foundations of alignment and structure in teaching. We also have a strong meditational quality to our practice and this - based on the Vipassna tradition - is at the heart of many of our main teachers yoga perspectives and a core part of our programs.

Our core faculty, Mary Paffard and Maggie Norton, enjoy sharing their investigations and delight in the inner body and encourage students to seek their own inner guru in all aspects of their lives and practice.

There are five main programs that we offer.

A 450 hour program leading to our YMTC 600 hour certificate with the addition of a Summer Intensive or a complementary 200 hour Yoga Alliance program.

It is the core component of our 650 hour Yoga Mendocino Teaching Certificate which is Yoga Alliance approved at the 600 hour level.

Our last 450 hour program commenced in September 2005 and ended in summer 2006. Its core content extended over 10 monthly weekend intensives.

Students are also required to complete 65 hours of weekly classes and 25 hours of elective workshops among other requirements that can be done wherever they live.

Participants either need to be graduates of the Basics program or have practiced yoga for a minimum of 5 years before attending.

As with Basics 240, it is not necessary to wish to teach but it is essential that you are willing to use teaching as a metaphor for practice and you are able and willing to commit to one year of intense study.
